Curated.Works: Fairytale – Magic of Couture – Little Mermaid

Here comes another Draw A Dot. WITH series!

As you may know, I am a huge fan of Alice Le‘s fairytale inspired fashion illustrations. Because of that, I have decided to collaborate with her on this Fairytale – Magic of Couture series. In these few months, Alice will be dressing up a few fairy tale characters in S/S 2013 Haute Couture collections. What so special about these images is that the characters will not look like the ones you see in the Disney world. Instead, they are created through Alice‘s vision.

For the first piece, Alice has paired Little Mermaid with Christian Dior S/S 2013 Haute Couture. The character clearly has the oriental facial features and I really like the “glitters” on her hair. The elegant dress looks good on her and the setting adds a very dreamy vibe to the entire illustration piece.

Curated.Works: The JT Odyssey Experience – Suit & Tie

Justin Timberlake‘s new album, The 20/20 Experience, is about to hit store tomorrow and I am sure some of you may have heard the album on iTunes already. As a fan of of Justin and his music works, 2 months ago I approached one of my favourite illustrators, Gerardo Larrea, and asked him to collaborate a project with me based on this new album. Since I always believe music is part of the pop culture, I think Gerardo‘s illustration style is a perfect fit for this series. Right now, we invite you to experience The 20/20 Experience in a new dimension.

The first illustration piece is inspired by the leading single Suit & Tie and of course, Justin Timberlake is dressed in Tom Ford. Unlike what you have seen in the video, Gerardo is taking us to a space journey and in my opinion, this is a refreshing idea. Below are 2 questions I have for him regarding this piece.

Curated.Works: Couture Melodies – Florence Welch

Few weeks ago, I showed you the first piece from the Couture Melodies series and it was Lily Allen in Jean Paul Gaultier S/S 2013 Haute Couture collection. Today, it’s time to continue this series with yet another amazing illustration by Desiree A.J.H. Harig and music chosen by John Anthony from The Neon Mix.

Desiree has decided to pair Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine with Atelier Versace S/S 2013 collection. The edginess of this fashion piece matches the vibe of Florence and the 24-karat gold accents add a touch of rawness to the combination. John has chosen Spectrum for this particular piece and I think they work very well together. Now, it’s time to read what Desiree and John have to say about Florence, Atelier Versace and Florence and the Machine.

Curated.Works: Couture Melodies – Lily Allen

Draw A Dot. WITH is the brand new section where you will see some original projects I collaborate with different artists that will first debut on this site. Today, I present you the first series.

Couture Melodies is all about haute couture and music. I have teamed up with Desiree A.J.H. Harig and John Anthony from The Neon Mix to let you experience fashion illustrations in a different way. While you are looking at the illustration created by Desiree, we also want you to listen to the song John selected for this particular art piece. Think about food and wine pairing and you will get the picture.

For the first round, Desiree has dressed Lily Allen (aka Lily Cooper) up in Jean Paul Gaultier S/S 2013 Haute Couture collection and LDN is the song picked by John for the image. I personally really like this pairing as I think the song really suits the vibe of the illustration. I have asked both of them some questions and their answers will give you more information on the illustration and music.
