Illustration.Files: Alexander McQueen F/W 2012 by Robert Tirado

I am always a fan of fashion brand Alexander McQueen because the clothes are always so romantic and beautiful. A lot of illustrators like to create images based on this brand because its clothes give them a lot of inspirations. Today, I want to show you this illustration by Robert Tirado

This illustration is based on the F/W 2012 collection and I think it is beautifully done. I really like the sketch details on the clothing piece as I can feel the dress is very fluffy and soft. The splashes of pink and purple add a very nice touch to the illustration as now I feel like the dress is a symbol of hope.

Sarah Burton once explained the theme behind this collection was about the optimistic future. If that’s the case, I think Robert has really done a great job by interpreting this message into illustration. What do you think?

Curated.Works: à la mode Christmas 2011 Holiday Postcard

Christmas is only one day away and today, it is time for me to show you the image of the 2011 à la mode Christmas Holiday Postcard.

Lisa-Nishimura-a-la-mode-Burberry-Prorsum-Fall-2011Lisa Nishimura for à la mode Christmas 2011, inspired by Burberry Prorsum F/W 2010

Lisa Nishimura was the artist I really wanted to work with in 2011. Ever since she collaborated the Gossip Girl project with me, I was very certain that she would be a good fit for the postcard.

Just like the 2010 postcard, I told Lisa specifically that I would want this image to be inspired by the Burberry Prorsum F/W 2010 collection. After passing the idea back and forth a few times, she sent me the above image. It was magical because I felt like the Burberry girl was giving out a warm vibe to this winter illustration. The scarf was a very nice touch to enhance the entire image. In the end, I titled this illustration as “Your magical journey awaits”.

By now, you have seen all 3 holiday illustrations I have collaborated with different illustrators in the past 3 years (Helen Huang for 2010 and Wendy Ding for 2012). I am going to continue this series and hopefully in the future, I can have an exhibition based on this amazing project! Stay tuned for next year’s illustration!

Merry Christmas!
